Clay Hall just said that on TV here in Columbus. He was broadcasting live from Ann Arbor and just kind of threw it out there. Bruce Hooley told us on our live show this morning that the Buckeyes were planning to honor her in some way (I thought it might be a helmet sticker with her initials or something).

Again, not sure if this is 100 percent true, but Clay just reported it as fact and there's no reason not to believe him. He says OSU will have pink Buckeye leaves on their "throwback" helmets for the UM game.

Watching ESPN Classic's string of Buckeye/Wolverine games from the '90s and early '00s this week just reminded me of the heavyweight, high caliber recruits we once had here--even if we didn't dominate the B10 or beat Michigan every year as we do now.

Looking at our roster today, you can clearly see that there's no competition between the two eras. None whatsoever.

The O and D-line rosters looked NFL legit. They weren't all from Ohio (not that that's a bad thing) but you had linemen also from Florida, South Carolina, Texas, California and elsewhere.

That was solid recruiting. Even Michigan had NFL caliber players. The Big Ten across the board was far more competitive and contender like as opposed to today.

And compared to Pryor at times this season, Bellisari looks more like he was the nation's #1 QB recruit with great athletic ability coming out of H.S.

I suppose Tressel's the common denominator in our D-III style of play as of late.

Today we run scatbacks up the middle as if they're 230 lb powerbacks. We haven't had a 1,000 yard receiver in 6 years. We haven't had a LB'er over 240 lbs who can run in about 4 years. Haven't had a reliable punt/kickoff return specialist in three and let's not get started on the other skill positions.

No ingenuity, no swagger, no attitude, no passion. Those are qualities Buckeye players used to have until recently.

This may be a rant but it's legit and perhaps watching bits and pieces of these past games vs TSUN serves as the ultimate reminder.

Not sure if anyone remembers hearing this story from last year but reading the article with Kurt Coleman speaking about "soaking everything in" made me recall it.

Last year, I believe Tress shared a very cool tradition (i think it's a tradition?!) He said that Ellen Tressel at the beginning of each season gives each senior a chain of marbles colored of each of the teams they will face that year. Each week that goes by, they have to give up that marble. With every game that goes by they visually see the marbles depleting and their time left at OSU coming to an end. Very symbolic of the opportunities left while wear the scarlet and gray. Anyway, no agenda with this post simply recalled it and thought i'd share it on the eve of the big one.

He's to a great hard fought game and the buckeyes coming out on top. Thank you to all the seniors who gave us such great memories of the past years as well, best of luck to whatever you do in life....but we still have two games to win.

Prediction:
Buckeyes: 35
Wolverines: 7

GO BUCKS.

I know Thad knows his guys much better than I do but it is hard for me to undersand why Offutt, Kecman and big Z did not get minutes in this game.! What better atmosphere to get these guys envolved for later use. Matta pretty much kept it a 8 players. Hopefully as we get further into the season we will see some minutes from these guys.
I saw guys grabbing at their uniforms and hands on their knees in the 2nd half and a 2 minute "blow" may have helped keep the Cal run back from 24 points to 6 held down! Anyway happy for the win Cal came into the game ranked 12th as opposed to the Buckeyes 15th ranking!

True story:

This morning, I attended my mixed graduate/undergraduate civil engineering course with red eyes and clear tiredness from the Mirror Lake shenanigans from the night before. My professor, who is usually the most daper of dapers in class, took 1 look at me, knew what I did, and no questions asked extended his arm for a high five. He then sat down and waited for the rest of the students to enter the classroom.

He then went on a diatribe and said that statistics tell him that between 2 and 3 of us in the classroom will become professors. He went on about how the field needs us (this is our last class, many are graduating seniors), how proud he was to be our professor, and how he hopes the best for us.

Then he took a serious turn and said that for the lucky few who get an opportunity to teach here at Ohio State, 3 rules apply:

1. Once and always a buckeye, no matter where academia takes you.
2. Always gives students a rest before and after big games.
3. Don't ever let any [censored]ing Michigan paraphernalia in your classroom during Michigan week. And yes, he cussed.

He got so fired up saying that that he said "Screw the syllabus, let's talk football." He went as in depth as I've ever seen a professor get about football. Some of the highlights:

"We now have a quarterback, ladies and gents."

"I hope to God that they fire that *******." Someone then responded, are you talking about Weis or RRod...and he said: "One and the same."

"OSU Michigan is the only game that matters to me. I lived through the 60's and 70's, as well as worked here in the 90's. And [censored] those cocky sonsa*****es. I remember in the '90s they said we weren't their real rivalry anymore...karma's sucks don't it?"

I am now quickly trying to find a class of his to take next quarter.

O-H!

The Bucks are playing much better today against Cal. Most importantly, ET has 0 turnovers at the half and 4 assists. Diebler and Buford are both shooting well in this game and they are just under 50% from 3 as a team. i'm liking the bounce back because it shows heart and character which i don't think we question about this team. we question the inside play offensively and defensively, turnover by ET, shot selection, and big game performance. Cal is overrated but this is still a quality win if we can indeed hold on. I'm just afraid that when the shot isn't there then we're done. we need to find other ways to win when the shot isn't falling. we need to have that attitude and desire to put the ball in the basket even if our shot isn't there whether it be by penetrating or getting to the foul line. but overall, we just need to shoot a high percentage with all our perimeter play and hope that everyone doesn't have an off night like they did against UNC.

Once again, I am offering up a sig bet for the Michigan-OSU game. Jarhead Buck took the bet last year, so he has dibs this year.

The rules are the same. I take Michigan and whoever accepts the bet takes OSU. Straight up, no points. Loser has to put the winner's message of choice in his signature for one week (until the following Saturday at midnight). Signatures can not be profane or include names of other posters (except for the two posters participating in the bet).

If Jarhead does not take the bet, although I can't see any reason why he would not, then I will choose another poster who responds to this thread and accepts. Preference will be given to posters who post on a regular basis (there is no use in having control of someone's sig who does not post) and who are considered "good-natured" by me (this is a highly subjective measure of course).

Jarhead...please respond soon. Sorry for the late notice, I've been terribly busy.
