WBNS-AM (1460 The Fan) made an announcement today that former OSU quarterback Craig Krenzel will serve as a co-host of The Midday Show and will also make appearances on other 1460 programming.
WBNS-AM (1460 The Fan) announced today that former Ohio State quarterback Craig Krenzel will join the staff at the flagship home of Ohio State Athletics. Krenzel will join a host of other former Buckeyes to Columbus’ only sports talk station this July.

“We are extremely excited about adding Craig to our line-up. His knowledge of the game will give our listeners even more insight to what’s happening on the football field” said 1460 The Fan Program Director Jimmy Powers.

Krenzel will join The Fan as a co-host for The Mid-Day Show with Mike Ricordati and Scott Torgerson, which airs weekdays from noon to 2 p.m., as well as filling in on The Big Show with Chris Spielman, Bruce Hooley and Kirk Herbstreit, weekdays from 4 p.m.-7p.m. In addition, Krenzel will also host the OSU Roundtable Show, a statewide broadcast on the Ohio State Sports Radio Network, Monday evenings during the football season.

Krenzel worked previously as an OSU football analyst at WTVN-AM (610) in Columbus.

Krenzel is a former three time All-Big Ten award winner and was at the helm of the 2003 Ohio State National Championship football team. After completing a perfect 14-0 season, Krenzel was drafted by the Chicago Bears of the National Football League in 2004. Krenzel, a two-time Fiesta Bowl Most Valuable Player, also has a degree in Molecular Genetics from The Ohio State University and was a winner of The Sporting News Socrates Award.

WBNS-AM (1460 The Fan) is a member of the Dispatch Broadcast Group which includes Mix 97.1 FM, WBNS-10TV, WTHR-TV, Indianapolis, the Ohio News Network and the Radio Sound Network. The station also has a content partnership with Bucknuts.com.

Krenzel, my favorite Ohio State quarterback of all time.
He was a SCUM killer before Troy Smith and he always came up big in big games.
He proved that when you play with all your heart, anything is possible! Holy Buckeye!
Hmmm.. So is Lachey backing off a little bit on things. Or will he still be there for the round table shows. Hope so.. I like Jim a lot too..
I can tell you the folks at WTVN really didn't want to lose Craig. He was really coming into his own as an analyst and is a great guy to be around and to talk football with. A very good get by WBNS. People are going to really like his insights.
they should have replaced ricomortusdoti with CK...
what happened to his medical/chemistry career?
What a great addition.A class act who will give us insights into J.T.
No offense to the guys who do those radio shows, but as smart as Krenzel is reported to be, I would think the money would be better doing something related to what he majored in while at Ohio State. Is he giving up on becoming a Doctor or Scientist? I'm sure he'll be a very good analyst radion talk show guy, but I guess I didn't expect him to get into that after football.
With a Medical Degree to fall back his future is set no matter what happens. Congrats to him and good luck.
He needs to bump Herbie out of his "Gameday" spot if Spielman doesn't get it...
I love seeing another fellow Molecular Genetics B.S. holder from Ohio State doing well for themself.
While I like and rspect Craig, Hooley just plain sucks
Hooley does suck. He looks like a douchebag too.
What's a guy with a molecular genetics b.s. doin' radio with a d-bag like hooley?
I've always liked this guy, until my brother went to a banquet he was speaking at, and said to my brother, "you guys are lucky I decided to show".... Hopefully that was a bad for him, as he seems like a good guy. I do find it funny when he was asked in college about possibly going into sports talk/announcing and said, that he had higher aspirations than that... I guess I'm in the minority of those who likes Hooley. I don't always agree with his opinions, but I think he does a good job on the radio-at least better than most.
