On the day Ohio State made its 2008 season debut, 2009 Buckeyes recruit Duron Carter made his Ohio debut in the Fourth Annual Kirk Herbstreit Varsity Football Series.
Carter led his Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas team to a 35-24 win over Cincinnati Elder with four catches for 131 yards and touchdown Sat., Aug 30 at Cincinnati’s Paul Brown Stadium.
Carter, who is the son of former OSU pass-catcher and NFL great Cris Carter, was excited to play in Ohio for the first time and about his team’s day on the big stage.
"We felt at the beginning of the game we could get deep," he said. "It was just a matter of coming together since it was our first game and getting a little more chemistry. In the second quarter we got in a groove.
"I am glad we won the game and it is not an individual effort. We won in Ohio and it shows we’re one of the best teams in the nation."
The elder Carter is a wide receivers coach for Aquinas and manned the sidelines during the game.
"Its not really about handling (expectations)," the younger Carter said in regard to his famous father, "but its about meeting expectations people have of me and to let people know I can play for Ohio State and that is why they recruited me."
Thanks to our friends at ScoutingOhio.com for putting together these video highlights of Carter's performance:

Hopefully Paul Keals or Jim Lachey will saying the same thing about Duron.
He looked like an all around player. Someone has been coaching this kid up.
I was very disappointed that I was unable to catch this game on Monday but it is my understanding that not only was he fantastic catching the ball on Monday but he also had a few nasty blocks. Keep up the hard work Duron, cant wait for you to don the Scarlet and Gray
