Who do you think was the greatest football player ever at Ohio State?  Archie Griffin?  Orlando Pace?  Whoever you think it is, chances are you could be wrong.  Historians will tell you that it is this man, Vic Janowicz, who could be the greatest athlete to ever put on a Buckeye uniform.

Vic played varsity on Ohio State from 1949-1951, but it was his 1950 season which earned him his Heisman Trophy.  The team that Vic played on wasn't great; the 1950 Buckeyes finished with a 6-3 record.  But Vic rose above it to be declared the nation's greatest player.

Vic had a total of 938 yards on offense that season with 16 touchdowns.  Vic also did the kicking for Ohio State; his punting "performance" in the legendary Snow Bowl vs. Michigan still stands today as the all-time record holder in single-game attempts (21) and punting yards (685).  Vic's season was enough to earn him the Heisman Trophy by a margin of more than 2 to 1.

Vic is looked back upon as one of the greatest to ever play at Ohio State.  "Vic had to be one of the finest athletes ever to play at Ohio State," said teammate Walt Klevay.  Marv Holman, who called Vic's games on the radio, said "I can't imagine Ohio State ever having a more versatile player."  A lot of people would concur.  Those who have seen Vic play all say the same thing- he may have been OSU's greatest.
